Zadia from Coco Joes has been quietly making small-batch handmade plant-based ice cream in Melbourne since late 2015. Originally inspired by a young family member with a severe lactose allergy who always missed out on eating ice cream at family events, combined with a deep love of animals, the quest to perfect a delicious cruelty-free ice cream began. And so, Coco Joes (name inspired by a Mighty Boosh character) was born! The Classic Chain of cinemas in Melbourne was her first customer where you might have eaten one of the single serve pots of ice cream in a standard range of flavor's that adults and kids can enjoy. You can also now find Audrey at markets and events all over Melbourne and surrounds, with all kinds of seasonal flavor's.

I’m Anna and my biz is called Mara and Us. Why the name, I get asked this a lot. The Latvian people of Northern Europe were nature worshipping pagans before Christianity came through their land. In Latvian mythology, Mara is a triple goddess; maiden, mother and grandmother and the goddess responsible for the birth of the land, the waters, and every living thing. Mara is associated with children and childbirth, making her a creation deity. She is also the protector of women, especially mothers, and daughters. My mother Astra, is a proud Latvian woman and I am honoured to have this heritage and pass this onto my daughter, Isla and together we are Mara & Us.
I began Mara & Us about 5 years and showcasing the Mara & Us Raw Crystal and Sterling Silver range at markets is a highlight of the creative process. I love being part of markets and meeting people who are attracted to my work. Finding out what moves people to try on and buy my jewellery is so exciting and inspiring to grow my range.
